Remembering 9/11

11 Sep

“Where were you when the world stopped turning?”

I remember.

I remember getting ready in my dorm room.

I remember not having a TV, so I headed to class.

I remember my classmates huddled together in the student center watching the news.

I remember standing in disbelief and shock at the sight of the black smoke and the collapsing towers.

I remember desperately trying to call loved ones but not getting through.

I remember feeling paralyzed by a range of emotions – sadness, anger, helplessness, fear, and grief.

I remember knowing that our lives would forever be changed.

On this day 10 years later, may we remember the innocent victims, the heroes who died in honor, and every family that lost a loved one.

May we pay tribute to all the brave men and women who have and who still are sacrificing their lives to keep this great country safe, strong, and free. I think of my two brothers who are currently serving in the Army. I am so proud of them and pray for their safety every day.

Today we remember, and promise to never forget.

God Bless America.
